Spiderwebs
One day on a nature walk I stopped and watched a plain, black spider weave together a spiderweb that took my breath away. The web was spun between two tall trees that were placed several feet apart so the web was quite large. But the pattern that this spider was able to create was astounding. A masterpiece of intricate design. He knew just what to do, this gifted artist, as he patiently worked strand by strand. I marveled at this ordinary spider, quite plain and ugly to look at, and his ability to bring about such beauty and design, simply by doing what God created him to do.
Of course, if I were to see this glorious creature in my house, his beautiful life would be cut tragically short.
But when he is in nature, doing what he was born to do, I feel like I am a witness to God’s holy beauty and wonder.
Ephesians 2:10 says “For we are God’s MASTERPIECE. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago”. (NLT) Dear friends, I am writing this blog because we all need to be reminded that we have value as God’s hand-crafted masterpieces. All of creation is designed to reveal glimpses of the divine; but as human beings made in the image of God, we have been set apart as God’s MASTERPIECE to reveal God’s perfection through our imperfect lives. We are like the plain, black spider whose everyday life unveils the presence of Someone bigger than ourselves at work. Earthen vessels that reflect the radiance of a holy, loving God.
I hope that you will come along with me as I explore this great mystery. I pray that you would be drawn even closer to the God who calls you His Masterpiece.
You are like that spider when you sit by the piano. We all so love the masterpiece God has created in you when we listen to your lovely playing. I personally cannot get enough.
Love you
Thank you Marion! I appreciate you taking the time to read.
Insightful, witty and beautiful! Just like you, my friend! Looking forward to reading and learning more!
So as I’m sitting in the gym cafe, paging through a Focus on the Family magazine-I find an article based on Ephesians 2:10. A beautiful verse of truth that speaks to many! Next time I see you I’ll give you the article. 🙂
